Here we affirm the essential role of psycho-spiritual work within movements: addressing trauma, burnout, reactivity, and the subtle forms of aggression that circulate within individuals and groups. This includes the longstanding political insight that subjectivity is never private—it is shaped by history, power, and culture, and in turn shapes what movements are capable of becoming.

The gains of the past decades live here, and they remain indispensable. And yet, we also want to ask, what is needed to prevent our inner and interpersonal work becoming stuck in self-centering and narrowly inward attention to group dynamics? What ensures this attentiveness to self and group serves our sense of a bigger transformative purpose?
